Due to the early finish in the tri season for the qualification events I was actually finished my A races by the end of May.
I had realised this in 2014 and put in place to do the Etape du Tour in July 2015. This wouldn’t be the first time I have done it but it would be for my wife.
It meant I would have to change my training from short sprint work to endurance bike work. One extreme to the other.
Looking back, one thing it did do was give me something fresh to focus on as it is as mentally challenging combining a job and training as it is physical. It is only when you come out the bubble you realise how much you have been in it.
